In a land far, far away the sun only shines for about four months out of the year and the average temperature is twenty degrees below zero. There lived a man whose name was Oogrooq. This means bearded Seal who has a long life. He was a very small man, no bigger than a macaroni penguin. He was very clever as well as strong as ten Vikings. He had a beard and long hair to about his shoulders. Some say that his hair gave him great strength, while others thought that he was just supernatural! He lived in an icy cave deep in an Antarctica mountain. He lived there alone and spent most of his days fishing for killer whales, hunting polar bears, and penguin ranching.
One day while he was out checking his small herd of penguins, he discovered that something had been plucking his penguins off one by one. It was a mystery because all that would be left were the feet. Yet, Oogrooq thought that he might have an idea. He decided to set a trap, not knowing for sure what he might catch.
First he dug a hole in the ice using a killer whale rib bone. The hole was five feet deep and five feet around. Oogrooq then hid behind a snow bank. While the penguins nested near the hole, he hid for days. Then it came, something in the dark with a big splash up from the icy water. It came for another penguin. It was about to rip off ones feet, then Oogrooq jumped from behind the snow bank and kicked the leopard seal in the ice hole.
So Oogrooq asked the seal "Why are you stealing my penguins." The seal replied, "I am working for a very dangerous killer whale who orders me to steal your penguins for his meals. If I don't do what he tells me, I will be eaten myself!" Oogrooq had killed several other predators that had tried to diminish his herd.
Oogrooq decided to seek out this killer whale and deal with him, but he would have to call for help from two of his heroic friends.
A few miles away lived a woman named Ahnah, which stands for wise woman, in a house made of walrus bones. The walls were lined with seal pelts which kept it very warm and cozy. She was a big woman with the power to do many things. She was very friendly but was feared by all. She spends her days making medicines and practicing her powers. She was very wise and had the power to heal almost anyone.
After Oogrooq had recruited Ahnah, he had just one more stop before making his journey. Not too far away lived Tuwawi, which means quick, who had lightning speed and could run effortlessly in deep snow. Tuwawi was ready for the challenge and had been waiting for a day when he could use his power again.
So they set out on their journey through the frozen tundra and a raging blizzard in the dead of night. The killer whale lived in the only lake in Antarctica. It was steaming with hot water and it was like a huge whirlpool in the middle of nowhere. The water was hot because the whale blew fire out of his blowhole. It was way to hot for anyone to enter and, so they would have to find a route.
So the three eskimos made a plan. They decided to have Tuwawi run across the hot water as fast as he can with out getting burned. Then when the whale comes up to eat him, Oogrooq would throw a spear with all his strength.
With the signal, Tuwawi took off in a flash and was halfway across the boiling lake. When the killer whale surfaced with the intention to kill, Oogrooq launched his spear with all his might, but the spear deflected off the impeircable black skin. Tuwawi was terrified, but luckily he could run really fast. He made another lap around the lake back by Oogrooq again. This time Oogrooq wouldn't miss. He took careful aim and launched his second spear. As if flew through the air, they both knew that it was their very last chance for survival. The whale lunged for Tuwawi, and got him by the leg. Right before he was about to swallow him whole, The spear landed right on target and stuck the whale right in the blow hole. The whale turned Tuwawi free. He was still in danger though. He was loosing blood fast and there was only one thing to do. Ahnah had to act fast. She was the only one that could help at this point. She ran to him, hoping that it wasn't too late. When Tuwawi was on his last breath, Ahnah touched him and healed him instantly. The worst was over for the gang of three and they continued on to live happily ever after.
